Evad-The Web and More
...Evad?... ...well, my name is Dave Richmond, many years ago, the group of friends I hung around with included a half a dozen or more of us named "Dave" - guess it was a popular name at that time. ;-)) ...in any event, so as to make it easier to identify who was talking to who, the group came up with 'nicknames' - as I'm sure you can appreciate the dilemma of dealing with a question being asked in a room we were all in that began with "Hey Dave..."
...at the time, I was also playing drums in a local rock band - after a performance one night, one of my friends said that while watching me perform, it seemed like another side of me, and said; "a good nickname for me would be Evad - as it's 'Dave' backwards" ...and, it just kinda 'stuck'. :-)
...when I started my own business creating interactive multimedia and web-based applications, as I was developing "software" in one form or another, the word "software", became "Evadware" :-) - and hence, the beginning of Evadware Productions, Ltd.
...over the years, my business has provided a wide variety of services including; graphic design, web site design, development and hosting services, interactive multimedia presentations and applications, electronic documentation creation, as well as, consulting and training ...with the Internet being what it is "today", "all" of the various types of content are now relatively easily "deliverable" online - which has led to the majority of my time being spent "on the web" :-)
...as it has pretty much been determined that the Internet is 'not' a fad, and its ability to maintain a consistent state of constant change appears to be here to stay... ...more people than ever are asking "How do I get what 'I' am doing out on the web and control what I want to 'do' with my web site, 'myself'?" ...one reality often initially hard to grasp is; the ability to know and do all of the things that are required to do 'everything' that needs to be done with your web site, and remain 'current' with this knowledge, is indeed a never ending adventure
..."webmastering", the word familiarized with the multitude of these required tasks, has evolved dramatically the past few years, today, providing a wide variety of 'tools' allowing more people than ever to control their own 'web destiny' - which 'still' means, there is much to learn, as unfortunately, no one is "born" with this knowledge - at least not 'yet' anyway ;-))
...unfortunately, over the years, many of those who provided Internet related services were often thought of as; "the person behind the curtain", their services often seemed expensive for what seemed like 'simple content updates', and too often the desired updates took them longer to get done than had been hoped for ...all of which has grown into, in 'my' opinion, the 'great movement' towards: "How can I webmaster my web site myself?" ...clearly evident from this movement, is the extremely diverse "current" content available to us all on the Internet today
...over the past few years, I have had the pleasure of working with many talented and creative people, and assisting them with becoming largely self-reliant with their web site development and on-going maintenance, has been an extremely rewarding experience for me personally - as in the process, I have also made many wonderful "new friends" :-)
...I met Dori Montini-Kotzin in November 2009 - and have fond memories of joking around with her about all of the things she could do with this WNYwomen web site, and "all", from "just a girl in her basement." - it brought a huge smile to my face when she started "her own section" of this web site and called it; "JAG in her basement." :-)
...I was thrilled when JAG asked if "I" wanted to have 'my own section' within which to contribute to this web site ...I have thought many times about "jumping on the blog bandwagon", but, for one reason or another, just never seemed to make the time, nor could I decide "where" I wanted to actually "post" a blog ...after working with JAG for over a year now, her passion for what she does, and the direction she plans on taking this web site has made me decide that "here" is where I wanted to finally get started :-)
...while I'm sure the direction and content of my contribution here at WNYwomen will evolve over time, my initial goal is to discuss and address many of the "smoke & mirrors" tasks required to start, develop and/or maintain your own "web presence" ...towards that end, I have also set up a dedicated email address for use by you, the WNYwomen visitors, at: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ...I am always interested in hearing about what would be of interest to you and/or what type of issues you would like to see addressed by me here
...and, for a moment of "shameless self-promotion" ;-)) - if anyone would like to know more about the types of services I can provide, you can learn more by visiting: http://www.Evadware.com ...I would also be happy to set up a call with anyone interested in exploring how I might be of assistance - appointments can be requested through the contact form at the site, or by dropping me an email here at: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
I look forward to the upcoming adventures together - best to all!
:-)
