Dr. Julie Donohue

Dr. Julie DonohueDr. Julie M. Donohue has touched the lives of thousands of women through her tireless devotion and dedication to providing the best possible healthcare for women in Western New York.

Dr. Donohue grew up in Clarence and attended the University of Buffalo, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry. She received her Doctorate of Medicine Degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and trained as an obstetrician/gynecologist at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She has been in private practice since that time. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The practice is unique in its collaboration with other disciplines. "We use bioidentical hormones fairly extensively." Jenny T. Bagen, an independent psychiatric nurse practitioner who specializes in sexuality issues sees clients regularly at Dr. Donohue's office. Dr. Donohue was awarded the "2001 Distinctive Support of WNY Physical and Occupational Therapy Group" for her assistance and guidance to their women's program for disorders of the pelvic floor, stress incontinence, and management of pelvic pain.

Her commitment to women's health is not limited to her medical practice. Dr. Donohue is devoted to breast cancer awareness and serves on the Lockport Mother's Day Breast Cancer Canal Walk Committee. "The Walk is a wonderful grass roots community event that brings together survivors and the families of women who have flost their fight with breast cancer. We raise money for the American Cancer Soociety and to fund Mary's Room, a wig fitting room for patients undergoing chemotherapy".

Beyond her work day, she is a devoted mother of 2 children, Rachael and James; and is married to David C. Donohue, an attorney in WNY. As for her dreams, desires and goals for the future, "I would like to integrate women's healthcare to include health for mind, spirit and body. This is my professional goal. I would also like to include community events and services for women not provided by other organizations."

Her words of wisdom ring true, "Know thyself. Seek the truth. Promote awareness. I think you will really have made progress when you can view your shortcomings and faults with amusement and say to yourself, "I'm a little quirky that way, but I find it charming and those who love me do too". We all have our faults, yet if we fixate on the cup being half empty, we don't see that it also half full. If we can be grateful for the half full and see the good in ourselves and others, then half is enough". Her patients can attest to the fact that she truly is everything one could ever hope for in a physician, and so much more.
