Cindy Heitmann

Cindy HeitmannThrough out my almost 20 year career as a nurse, I have acquired a variety of experiences. My experiences include geriatrics, psychology, intensive care, surgical, working with the terminally ill, and at present working at the Dent Neurologist Institute. Regardless of the hours, the paperwork, or the stress, I try to never forget why I became a nurse. I've seen the frustration from patients who can't help themselves, and/or have none to care for them. I've also seen and felt the pain of patients and their families when death is near, support and heart felt compassion are all I can offer. For me caring, reaching out, teaching, patience and understanding are qualities I have learned from wonderful people that I have had the pleasure of knowing and taking care of, valuable lessons from which I have taught my own children.

At the Dent Inst., I have the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of patients, and practice the qualities of nursing I believe in. The personal satisfaction I get from helping and teaching my patients is beyond expression. Not to long ago I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and now I am also a patient at the Dent Institute. I've learned to take each day for which it is and make the best of it, and appreciate all that I have. I now, even more than before, understand the need for compassion, support, and understanding. My personal goal is to continue nursing to the best of my ability, never forgetting the opportunities I have been blessed to experience.

I have grown up here in Western New York, married and raised twin girls ages 24 and 21. We have been blessed with good health and opportunity for a good life with our family. Hopefully we can give back some of the good fortune, we have been blessed to have received.

My personal hobbies include crafts, sewing and cooking, which I actively enjoy!
